YORK THEATRE ROYAL St. Leonard's Place, York YO1 7HD 01904 623568
The theatre dates back to 1744 and currently seats 847 people. Whilst traditionally it is a proscenium theatre, in 2011 it was redesigned to offer productions in-the-round. Each year over 200,000 people attend a wide variety of performances and activities. The theatre hosts many of its own productions, as well as hosting touring companies. The main stage and studio are regularly used by local amateur dramatic and operatic societies.

GRAND OPERA HOUSE Cumberland Street, York YO1 9SW 0844 871 3024

The building was built as a Corn Exchange in 1868 and later converted into a theatre in 1902. In the fifties it was converted into large open space suitable for roller skating, dancing and wrestling. In 1987 the theatre was restored back to its former glory with new seating and stage. Today the theatre is host to all forms of entertainment including pantomimes, musicals, comedy shows with a sprinkling of famous faces appearing from time to time.

The centre hosts many various forms of entertainment including music events, family shows and community events throughout the year. There is a 1,500 seating capacity. Recently refurbished and upgraded the York Barbican is not only an entertainment venue it provides a unique and exciting environment for a diverse range of corporate events and is an excellent venue available for conferences.

An exquisite art deco 350 seat theatre located away from the city centre. It is the a centre of various forms of live entertainment, from pantomime and musicals. Local groups such as the Rowntree Players an amateur society perform regularly. There are also performances from national and international touring musicians and other forms of entertainment.

A small 100 seat studio theatre run by Riding Lights Theatre Company. It also hosts tour a variety of events by visiting performing arts groups. The theatre is committed to supporting education work with as well as dedicated work with its own local community. Each summer a Summer Theatre School is open to all ages and abilities.

NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EARLY MUSIC Walmgate, York YO1 9TL 01904 632220
The centre offers an extensive programme of live music events throughout the year. Based in a medieval church in the centre of York it is the home of the internationally acclaimed York Early Music Festival. The centre promotes all-year round music entertainment consisting of jazz, folk and early music concerts as well as an educational programme.

City Screen is ideally placed in a riverside setting in the city centre. The three auditoria can seat 226, 142 and 135 people. The venue is ideal for private functions and conferences. Formerly The Odeon Cinema dating back to the 1930's. The cinema is now fully open after a complete refurbishment which included the addition of two screens. The foyer houses a box office and a concessions counter that offers a large range of chocolates, sweets, popcorn, hotdogs and cold drinks.

The venue hosts an eclectic mix of events including live music, poetry, comedy, drama and DJ nights. Situated below the City Screen cinema in the heart of the city. The layout of this underground club make the venue very intimate with the audience seated very close. Open from 8pm until 11pm for the majority of events and host each Sunday to Comedy Club.
